Lori Melnitsky, M.A., CCC-SLP
I’ve been a licensed speech-language pathologist for over 20 years, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping people who stutter—because I’ve lived that journey myself.
I stuttered severely until the age of 30. I couldn’t say my name out loud or raise my hand in class. I was even told by other SLPs that I’d never make it in this profession, but I didn’t let that stop me. I became an SLP, opened my private practice—All Island Speech and Stuttering Therapy—and made it my mission to help others find their voice.
Over the years, I’ve treated hundreds of children and adults who stutter. I’ve created resources like the Stuttering Boot Camp for school-aged students and launched the Stuttering DeMystified podcast and Facebook group to share knowledge and support.
I’ve had the honor of teaching graduate classes on stuttering as an adjunct professor, presenting at conferences, and even consulting on the PBS children’s show Arthur for the episode “Maria Speaks.” I’ve published work in the Journal of Fluency Disorders and have been featured by Verizon and Newsday as an expert on stuttering.
My goal is simple: to give you the tools, strategies, and confidence you need to support young children who stutter—so you can walk into every session knowing exactly what to do.
